Light Tackle & Fly Fishing Sight Casting for Football Bluefin Tuna in The Gulf of Maine
Football sized (40-100 pounds) show up in the Gulf of Maine in July and stay through the summer and into the fall. We sight cast to schools of surface feeding tuna with 12 & 14 weight fly rods and 50 lb. class spinning gear. Trips are dependant on light winds and 1-3 foot seas. If it blows up and the seas become rough we can spend the trip striped bass fishing inshore assuring that you don't miss out on a fun filled day on the water. No canceled trips on Obsession Charters! (short of a 40mph Sou'Easter that is) We depart Bath at sunrise (4:30-6:00 AM) on the OBSESSION for 6-7 hours. Maximum capacity for our Tuna trips is 3 clients at a cost of $400 for the trip. (not per person) This is a ocean trip 5 -15 miles offshore so weather and wind can sometimes can cause the need to stay inshore and fish for stripers and blues. It is best to contact Capt. Dave the day before your trip to discuss the latest weather forecast. Please bring: light jacket / raincoat, sunscreen and sunglasses. If your prone to motion sickness take some medication well before we depart. If at all possible, please do not wear black soled shoes or work boots, they really mark up the deck of the boat, thank you. FMI > on Reservations |
