Mid Coast Maine Fishing

Striped Bass arrive in mid coast Maine during late May.  The first to arrive are the smaller “schoolies”. By mid June, stripers weighing as much as 40 pounds show up and spend the summer in the Kennebec River River and surrounding beaches and islands. The Kennebec River has the most-northern population of native reproducing striped bass in the U.S.

By early July the Bluefish make their presence known along mid coast Maine.  Our Bluefish tend to be 10-16 pounds and 24-36 inches long.  Blues are strong fish that make powerful runs and test the skill of the most seasoned angler.   ~{more info}~

We  fish with 30 pound class stand up gear and 12-14 wt. fly rods.  Fly fishing for shark is very popular.  As a matter of fact, one of Obsession Charter’s clients holds the State of Maine Blue Shark, Fly Rod Record. ~{more info}~
