No outriggers or canvas tops today! From trolling gear to state of the art fly and light tackle-spinning gear. It sure makes one wonder what the next 15 years will bring… One thing is for sure; every season will be filled with new adventures and new fishing opportunities.
I get a kick out of looking back through the early photos of Obsession Charters. In 1992 we were trolling for bluefish using outriggers and down riggers. I even had the canvas up on the boat.
Shallow water flats style fishing for striped bass in its infancy. There are literally miles and miles of shallow water areas to explore on and around the Kennebec. This type of fishing is not just for the skilled fly fisher; light tackle spin fishing lends itself perfectly. Sluggos, top water plugs and crankbaits are absolute killers in skinny water. Can you picture the mounding water as a 30" plus bass pushed up behind an offering being slowly retrieved...
Or how about this desperate attempt to drum up business during Bath's Heritage Days celebration. Those were some lean summers. Some of you folks receiving this newsletter actually remember these dark days. Thank you to each and every one of you for being part of Obsession Charter's past.
