Last year's season provided some of the best striped bass fishing in many years. The June Kennebec River catch and release season was world class as usual. Schools of small stripers (under 24") were feeding on bait almost daily during the entire month. This provided for great top water action on both fly and spinning gear. A good number of 30" plus stripers were caught and released during July, August and September. (Check out the pictures in the Obsession Charters FLOG on our website.) We did well fly fishing with eel and blue back herring patterns on 500-600 grain shooting heads and class 5 full sinking lines while big bucktails and live eels were very effective when using spinning gear.

The numbers of Bluefish were somewhat disappointing last season. Though 6-10 pounders were being caught along the beaches and to the westward of the Kennebec, very few showed up in the river. Strange too, we had a very good mixture of bait in the river for the entire summer.
