Conditions: We're seeing typical July fishing conditions. Early morning surface action followed by fish stacking up on ledges and in rips. Water quality is good and water flow is increasing due to the big full moon tides.

Bait the fish are feeding on: sand eels, herring, alewife, eels, mackerel, pogies.

Bait size range: 1 ½" to 15"

Target species right now: Striped Bass

Fishing tactics: With the water temp increasing the stripers are spend more time in deeper water. This means fishing rips and banks. Use your fish finder to locate schools of striped bass.

My fly fishing tip of the week: Sinking lines are needed to get down to fish in the rips and on the banks. Long casts help get and stay down in the strike zone longer.

My spin fishing tip of the week: Jigheads with shad bodies allow you to fish different depths without changing lures.

7 day outlook: Great weather and perfect tides this week with the exception of showers on Thursday. We are catching 20-30 fish per trip on flies and lures! Sizes are ranging from 12" to 32" with some fish over 36".
